How They Met:
I first spotted Virginia at a meeting in February 2018. There were over 60 people at this meeting, and I knew everyone there except her. She kept smiling and giggling while she was sitting on a table next to someone that I know. I just couldn’t help noticing this beautiful light that was emitting from her eyes. When the meeting ended 2 hours later, I quickly made my way to the other side of the room where she was, and when I got there she was gone! I started thinking if I imagined the whole thing…was she a real person, it just an imaginary vision? Everyone else stayed behind but her. Fast forward to a month later, I’m at another meeting, and she’s there, but this time there’s only 8 people at the meeting. She was sitting diagonally across from me, and I tried not to stare too much. I was able to catch her first name only. I went to grab the attendance sheet so that I can find out her last name, but the facilitator if the meeting folded the sheet and put it away. Every few seconds I’d glance towards her, and I couldn’t believe how beautiful her eyes were. I was totally fixed by them! The meeting was over in less than an hour, and she quickly left the room. I really wanted to know who she was, but I didn’t want to make it obvious that I was also mesmerized by her. Although we don’t work for the same company, we both work in a very large building where there’s over 500 people, and I would look for her every day. Finally, I decided to see if we have mutual friends on social media, this way I could get a last name. Sure enough, the one day I checked, and there she was. I sent a friend request. She accepted it about an hour later. I didn’t notice a significant other mentioned in any of the photos, so I reached out to her in a private message, asking her if she wanted to join me at a concert later that month. She quickly replied and said she would check her work schedule the next day. One thing that I need to mention about me…I wear bow ties to work. So, as we continued our chat, I said that I’d make a promise if she would attend the concert with me. She said okay, and I told her I won’t wear a bow tie if she says yes. Her reply to me was, “no, please wear a bow tie, I like them, and you wear them well I knew immediately that she was available, and perhaps interested. I then asked her if she would like to meet for lunch or dinner, and she replied that she doesn’t socialize with people that she works with. I then said “it’s your lucky day, because you and I don’t work for the same company! She got a good laugh out of that. Two days go by, and she said she couldn’t attend the concert because of a conflict with work, however she took my number, and she called me the next day. We spoke for 57 minutes!!! She said she was intrigued by me, and I said I’m surprised we never met before considering the over 2 dozen mutual friends that we have. We spoke a few more times over the phone after that, still not having gone on a date. A couple of weeks later, I had to fly to Dallas on a business trip. I had a lot of vacation time to take, so I decided to a trip after my 4 days in Dallas. I had booked a trip to San Francisco, Honolulu, Los Angeles, and yen back home to New York. I was looking forward to my 7-day getaway. Virginia called me the day before I was going to leave Dallas, and she said she was going to travel to Las Vegas in 2 days to visit her dad. She says she was going to be there for 4-5 days. I asked her if she would like to meet me in Vegas, that I would alter my plans just to get a chance to sit next to her face to face, even if it’s for 5 minutes. She said that’s crazy, with a lot of laughing, and she wasn’t sure if she was going to have any free time. After we hung up, I started checking for flights from Dallas to Vegas. There was a flight that evening, with one seat left in first class, so I booked it! I then booked a hotel for 5 days, and I cancelled my trips to San Francisco, Hawaii, and Lis Angeles. I arrived in Vegas late that night, and I took photos of the strip from my balcony. I sent them to Virginia, and she was surprised I was there. She called me and asked what I was doing there. I told her people don’t get many opportunities in life with finding that one special someone, and I needed to find out if this was my chance to meet someone special after a couple of failed relationships that left me not wanting to trust another person again. She told me that she too had gone through heartbreaks and was hesitant with getting into a relationship. She said she would message me after she arrived into Vegas the next day. I felt really good about this. There was something about her that made me think that I can trust someone again. She called the next day and said she would meet me the next evening at a lounge in the Venetian Hotel, and she would be joined by her sister and niece. The next 24 hours seemed to have dragged so slowly. Finally, the night arrives, and I walk over to the Venetian. I was staying at the Cosmopolitan, so it was a nice stroll. I get there, and I got a table right by the entrance. About 15 minutes go by, and there she is. She had this beautiful smile, and her gorgeous eyes lit up the room! We hugged and kissed on the cheek, and she introduced me to her sister and niece. We spent the next 5 hours laughing and talking, and you can see that she was enjoying her surroundings, and we both felt really comfortable with each other. There were 2 instances where she got really close to me and said that this wasn’t going to work because of our jobs, and then she leaned in and kissed me on the lips!! When we finally left, she said she’ll call me when she got back. We were both flying g back the next morning, but on different airlines. The next day, I went over to the gate area of her flight, and I spotted her. I sent her a text message, and she had this big smile as she was reading it. She picked up her head and saw me, then she walked towards me. We spoke for about 5 minutes, holding hands, and she said she was looking forward to meeting me again very soon! We kissed on the lips, and I made my way back to where my flight was leaving from. It’s been uphill and beautiful since then, and I proposed to her last week. She said yes!!!
Their Love Story:
We didn’t know each other, despite working in a building where we have so many mutual friends. We both came out of failed relationships. I questioned whether I could ever trust another person again, and Virginia also had those feelings after her last relationship. After finding each other, accidentally, I can see the rest of my life through her eyes. It’s an amazing feeling being in love with her.
Their Personal or Family Wellness Impact Statement:
I kept to myself before Virginia entered my life, feeling depressed with where I was mentally. She made me believe that love and trust is there, and that I can find it by listening to my soul first. She tells me that she can now see my eyes smiling every time I look at her.
Their Plan to Pay-It-Forward:
Virginia and I would like to have 20-30 children from the Texas Children’s Hospital at the reception so that we can celebrate them, and have the event catered to the kinds of food that kids love, with lots of ice cream and deserts. We would also line bouquets for the girls, and boutonnieres for the boys! Let’s celebrate the children!!!!
